Nearly 500 million people worldwide suffer from hearing loss, and another 1 billion are at risk to suffer from this. China has the largest number of people with hearing disabilities in the world. Among the 83 million disabled people in China, deaf people account for 33%. Every year, 60,000 to 100,000 newborns are born with congenital or delayed deafness.
